the problem appears to have been resolved.

i'm waiting 24 hours for the silicone to fully cure, but i tried a little water after about 12 hours and nothing seemed to sneak through.

thanks to all involved!

i ended up pulling both tails off, cleaning the surface with mineral spirits, heat drying the lights, applying silicone to the housing of the tail light, putting black silicone over that small piece of plastic to eliminate water from even running to the tail lights.

Here's a pic.
I'll let you know how it all turns out after 24 hours.
I'll soak my trunk and let you know if this solution works.

Poured water over the lights, they started filling up again... *sigh*
Day 3 of the tail light fiasco tomorrow.

I suppose I have the "outer gasket" problem that is shown in that article.... I'm gonna have to try and seal it while it's still on my car though...

this is so frustrating, i want to roll this car off a cliff sometimes...

i'll try to seal the "outer gasket" tomorrow...
i'll go for the "hole drilling" technique if that fails too...

thanks for the advise guys, rep given.
