When my idle starte getting a little crazy I removed the fast idle thermo valve and noticed the wax thing had backed itself out. I just screwed it back in and havent had the problem since. Same thing happened on my friends gsr screwed the wax thing back down and again the problem was fixed.

or you could just remove it entirely. It really only serves to heat up the throttle body during cold starts to help bring the engine up to temp. After that all it really does is heat the throttle body up and limit any gains you might get from a cold air intake. 96+ Hondas do not have this valve incorporated into the throttle body.
Nope. The FITV is used to deliver more air to the engine during cold starts. Once warmed up by the engine coolant wax pellet expands and closes the valve. You can remove it but that wont do jack unless you remove the coolant lines with it and even then youre going to have the TB heated up by radiant heat energy and stud contact with the intake manifold.

My car runs fine without it.
I think Bill and John were saying the same thing just in different terms. Bill described how it works by adding more air to the idle mix when it is cold outside john mentioned the side effect of it heating up the throttlebody.

essentially in FL you dont need it if you spend time up north during the winter then dont remove it.

Id think of it the other way around.
Some part on the car is about to break and every once in a while it will malfunction. Eventually it will occur more and more frequently until it finally just gives up and breaks completely. Id figure out what the cause is before you get stranded on the side of the road with all our domestic friends.
