Default Clunking noise.... Passenger side 97 civic... Bad steering!

Hi All ive been working on my 97 hatch for a couple weeks now.... this problem is driving me nuts...

When i drive there is a clunking noise from the passenger side up front... also the car likes to steer hard in directions by it self....

i took the wheel of to look and i can move the hub left and right.. like the steering rack has play in it only on this side... you can move it back and forth and it clunks... its not the tie rod that connects to the hub to steer its farther in.. i cant see what it is....

Not a pic of a civic one but its past the rack bellow part that moves back and forth... and clunks..

Any insight??? im clueless...
