when my old 99 Civic Si hydro-locked on Bearss, it through the rod through the front of the block. Left a nice hole. Luckily, I was en-route to drop it off @ Spec-R to have a turbo installed. Ended up installing a GS-R block also. Of course, this was back in the day (2000).

Spec-R is no more, but hydrolocking still exists.

ok, you bent at least one of the piston rods.... DO NOT DRIVE IT OR YOU WILL BE BUYING A NEW ENGINE!!!!!!!!!!!! this happened to me and the end result was the piston rod blowing a hole completely through the block. hopefully you still have a chance of saving your engine

AEM CAI, driving in the rain today, through the puddles on Florida ave, not a problem. Cold air intake for a year and a half and no hydrolocking

Are you running the stock engine? How deep was the puddle, and how high is your intake(you generally need a good 12'' puddle before water is getting to the fiter with most CAIs)? How do you know your intake sucked up water (your filter being wet doesn't mean anything other than your filter is wet)? Did you take out your plugs and observe water/spray water out while cranking? Did you consider that maybe you bought an engine that was on its way out in the first place?

Just gathering info for future CAI vs Short ram threads

first of all drain your oil and see if anything different and if does go ahead take the oil pan and check it if anything broken or parts are missing or try to turn the crank while the oil pan is off the car.
