Engine Swap for beginners.... please??? :)
Hi everyone!
I'm new to TR, just joined yesterday. I'm the 2nd or 3rd owner of a 91 CRX DX all stock parts. I'm looking to find some information about doing an engine swap, but have no idea where to begin. It's a project that I'd like to do myself with my father (who used to be a bit of a gear head in his day), so this isn't something that I want to put into the shop. It's not something I'm planning on doing right away either, but I'd like to have some information so I can estimate future funds, etc.
I'm sure that many of you know that a stock 91 CRX DX only pushes about 96hp... Let's face it... THAT SUCKS! I wouldn't mind having about 150-175hp under the hood. A nice sounding exhaust on it, decent rims and tires. You know what I'm talking about...
So anyways, can anyone give me some suggestions about maybe where to look for the parts? Cheaper is better, but I am a believer in getting what you pay for too.
Any suggestions would be well appreciated!
Thanks!

b series is a nice easy swap for a crx. just research it. 88-91 crx is a "ef" same for the 88-91 civic. you can find most parts in the junk yard or here ---> https://www.tamparacing.com/forums/h...ra-parts-sale/

Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into all them.
I guess what I really should have said is something like this:
Anyone have any good ideas on what would be a good configuration for a beginner to work with?? But, like I said, i'll look into all that!
Thanks again!

Home made turbo kit will get you those numbers and is generally easier than a motor swap. If you had to do a swap, a DOHC ZC is a good cheap swap as is any SOHC VTEC motor. Probably the quickest and and cheapest way to upgrade your dx motor is a MPFI swap and put a SOHC VTEC head on it.
