and to answer your ? 88 stang, i think you should break in the motor atleast 1,000 miles with standard motor oil. After first 500miles.oil change.after next 500(1,000mile mark) oil change to fully synthetic and let her rip.They even have a "Break in motor" oil treatment available...

imo after u break it in for the bearings ...drive it around and try to see if theres any problems..ie weird noises/oil leaks etc...after u figured out nothing wrong...drive it pretty hard to make sure nothing is going to break

broke my ls v in for about 500 miles. the rings will break in after 20 minutes, but the bearings will need time to seat properly. just drive it easy. no more than half throttle and dont spin it higher than 6k. someone else stated it, but there are tons of different opinions for this. thats just how i did myne. wanted to be sure
