After that, it's a matter of what you want to do.
It certainly doesn't hurt to keep up the initial break-in procedure but raise the limit to 4500 or 5000 (staying below vtec) for another 500 to 1000 miles.
Change oil again and go vetc.

The main thing is you want to force the rings into the cylinder walls by getting on the throttle a lot. Rings don't bite the walls from their own spring pressure, they flair out from cyclinder pressures getting behind them, via ring gap, gasports. Too easy on the throttle and you don't get the pressures you need to expand the rings.

That said, plenty of engines have been run to the max right after rebuild, but unless you have to race or have to tune, or there is some other reason, why hurry?

Virgin engines like a little foreplay.
Did exactly this. Civicized Built my motor

I stayed under 4k for 1,000 miles.

Oil Change at 200, 500 and 1,000 miles.

One other thing - use the best oil filters. Premium grade catches smaller particles. Very important.

199bucks whos dumb to pay that much for that, guess im cheap and been useing fram for 11years ..there is amillion answer to brakein on a engine everyone does it there own way, just do yours how you feel fit, just remeber your rings will seat with in the first 2 3 start ups and warm up and never heard anything about bearings once the oil has set in there thos are done.but true you do have to do a oil change after the first 5-25miles of the start up that way you will get out the enginelube
