1987 civic hatch with 1.6L DOHC jdm zc swap was running fine started surging when running about 4 grand in 5th gear and wanted to stall when i pushed in the clutch and glide, then it ran fine and got down a little farther and started it again and then just died and then nothing, has spark, i have an 8 gallon fuel cell and an in-line fuel pump but i have never had a problem until now, just flip the switch and go. im thinking its electrical but i dont know where to start?

 

have you checked your fuel pressure?

 

i unscrewed the fuel line after the filter and it had gas comein out im thinking that the injectors aint workin/firing gas i have spark on each cylinder and when i poor gas in it it will run but i dont know where to start checking/diagnosing

 

you may have fuel getting to the rail but without enough pressure. since you have already verified that you have spark next you must check your fuel pressure and injector pulse. you may have a bad fuel pump or if you dont have inj pulse it could be an ecu problem or dizzy.

 

how do i check injector pulse? im pretty sure it isnt fuel pressure cause it doesnt try to start at all, no matter if i tap the gas or not, but when i poured fuel in the manifold it would start for a lil bit

 

check dizzy when its bad it does get hot and shuts off then when it cools down it cranks back up just a suggestion

 

ok thanx the dizzy on it has a vacume advance i wouldnt know how to check it, i had a buddy turn it over and all the plugs were fireing, it has to be fuel it just cranks and cranks with no fire at all, but it will if i pour gas in it it will run but then stall

 

well if its not fuel check the coil pack

 

it is fuel, not the coil pack or dizzy

 

to check injector pulse you need a noid light. if you dont have one or know someone with one, you can use a #194 bulb. bend the contacts so you can insert them into an injector plug. crank the car and see if the bulb flashes, no flash = no pulse. g/l
