Default 2 Step

I've been working on my sohc turbo civic for a while now, and I've got LSD on the way to help with traction, and also some BFG's.

A few people have been telling me to get a 2 step also, and that I'll really need it.

I'm not too familiar with this, so could some one explain to me exactly what 2 step is.

I've done research but couldn't seem to find anything.

Thanks for the Help,
-DD

its a launch limiter, Theres a certain way to set it you so build boost before you launch, so when you launch, your in boost.

It's made for launching. It's like a rev limiter at a lower rpm when your not moving so you build up boost before you launch.

Heres a quick vid to better explain

Soooo...

You launch > Full Boost > Low RPM

Theres Reduced Wheel Spin because of launching and holding peak boost at the lower rpm. A lower rpm because of the 2step?

Revving only to what?...3 or 4k allows for better traction? Although your at peak Boost?

Am i getting this right?

A two step is different than a anti lag setup.

A two step is just a lower rev limiter for launching. It does not typically build boost. My car will build about 2 psi or so on the two step.

A anti lag setup is similar to a two step but in addition to an adjustable launch rev limiter there is also an ignition timing retard and fuel increase that creates extra heat energy to spool the turbo. A car setup on antilag will sound like it is backfiring, and it is also kinda rough on the turbo depending on how you set it up.

Generally on a fwd car you only want to run anti-lag on slicks or bias ply tires. Running anti-lag on bfg's will just create too much wheel spin to be of any use.

Hope this helps.

Just to let you know, your engine management system (ectune, hondata, neptune, aem) will control your 2 step. There is no need to buy an ignition module for 2 step etc.

Thanks allot KJ

But one more question...

My car is a street car. I'm not going to be running it just at the track. It will be on the road 4 out of 7 days of the week.

So with that, is a 2 step really that necessary?

No it wont. You may want to re-think using crome.
There are much better solutions at a simular price (eCtune).
