Default cylinder honing

my girlfriend just pulled apart her B20a, and i was talking to a friend of mine and he was saying to give it a bead hone while the pistons were out

so, i think its an 81mm bore, but i'm not sure where to get one, the only place i found has an 83mm bead attachment, but had like 6 different abrasives on them, i'm pretty lost here, anyone shed some light on this?

this is all i could find

GB and GBD from Brush Research Manufacturing

thanks

b20a? isnt that out of a prelude?? not sure of the bores between the old prelude motors n the newere b20s. how many miles on the motor? when i put new pistons in my ls vtec all i did was deglaze the cylinder walls with some fine sand paper. it had 107k on the motor.

Some new OEM (factory honda) rings would be a good idea too.
If the motor was burning oil or smoking & has a lot of wear, I would inspect the cylinders to see if the setup needs to be bored .25 over per the helms manual specifications.

Yeah use the 83mm hone. I've used an 89mm ball hone on an 81mm setup and that worked ok too.
Just remember to oil the hone with 30wt oil and move quickly. Don't stay in a cylinder for more than 10 seconds. After 10 seconds remove the hone and check the finish on the walls. If it is good then move to the next cylinder.

its a JDM B20a out of a 3g prelude

she got the motor in and is rebuilding it, new rings, new seals, all that good shiz

complete rebuild, but as we have never had it running, i'l burning is unknown, but everything looks good in it on visual inspection

and is that a good hone?
what abrasive?
or what do y'all use, or is it really necessary to even do it at all

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll keep looking around.
I would like to do the bead hone to the cylinder walls even if it's not 100% necessary, I would rather be safe than sorry.
