Exclamation Proper Way of Breaking In Motor?!?!

Well I should be picking up my car tommorow, with brand new PR3 Pistons, Rings, Bearings, and a Flywheel. Motor is a B18c1, and I was wondering what the proper way would be to break in the motor? I've heard of people saying, not to even drive the car at all and go dyno tune it. Others have said, drive it like you stole it from the first start. My ecu is a modified gsr basemap with 5 % more fuel. I dont have enough cash right now to do a dyno tune, but would it be safe to drive around until I have the money to tune it? Lemme know what you guys think.

my engine was burning a significant amount of oil, and i then found out that I had flat spots on areas of my piston rings. Hence, I got new pistons, and did a few other things along the way.

well as long as your honed the motor with your new rings, and you Tq down every nut like needed to spec..i myself run the motor idle for about 10mins to listen for sounds then i take it for a nice 15min drive.let it cool down then another 25-40min drive then the next day i start to drive like normal

bla wrong... crank motor bring rev's up near rev line hold for 20-30 min. shut down, repeat....

jk

do what rangcrx said and every time i've had a motor torn apart and rebuilt i always drive about 100-200 miles keeping the rpm's low just to make sure everythings happy. the day after your 1st drive on the new motor let it sit and idle for a while and listen again. some times when things warm (expand) then cool (shrink) things get loose so i always like listen when its been fully cooled. i might be over kill but better to go over kill and be safe then not and have shit hit the fan.

sorry i can't help you with the tune on the honda, i'm about to have to fnd a place myself that'll work on a C30A.

good luck and enjoy the fresh motor

another tip when the motor is installed and ready to fire take the valve cover off THEN put the oil in coating all the rockers after you watch it drain down"not getting any in the sparkplug holes" DOnt start the motor just have it turn about 15 times or so to fill it with oil
