Default alternator charge wire

it seems that my alternator ground wire (the one that goes over the stud on the alternator) seems to be getting real hot, as to where the bolt is turning red and frying off, thus making my car run on battery power.

Does anyone know what this would be getting that hot, should i replace the alternator?

Test the alternator for free at Autozone, first.

Check to be sure both ends of the ground wire are clean and making good contact.

Put on a bigger diameter wire, or run two wires of the same diameter, and be sure both ends are clean and making good contact.-Bob

I can see the ground wire on the top of the alternator but the stud got so hot and crispy that it broke off, so i pushed the ground in the tiny space around the stud, then when i connected my neg battery connector, the battery fuse poped.

Yes I circled the bolt/stud that got hot, so you think it could be a bad voltage regulator in the alternator?
