Im putting a 00 CX transmission into my 92 Si tomorrow night could anyone who has experience with removing-installing SOHC trannys give me a few tips on what to watch out for? I dont have a helms but Ill read through the haynes or whatever I can find before I do it. I will be using the linkage clutch pressure plate & flywheel from the SOHC tranny. Any tips on tools and fluids would be very helpful.

Thanks
Rich

Well nobodys gonna give you a step by step Rich.

Drain the trans before you remove it otherwise you will have a huge mess.

After you remove the clips and nuts use a hammer to loosen the ball joints. Just hit it really hard a few times it should pop up. Then you can remove the axles easier.

Use 10w-30 or Honda Manual Transmission Fluid for the trans. DO NOT USE GEAR OIL.

You can use a broom stick instead of a clutch alignment tool to line up the clutch disc. You can also use an input shaft if you have one laying around.

Those are about the only tips I can remember. Its a pretty easy job.

well killer if you want to know then ok. it is gonna be a pain in the ass hope you have the 32mm socket to get the cv shafts out. then after unbloting all the shifter linkage and left side mounts and rear mount and undoing the hydrlaic lines from the tranny and moving the radiator out of the way and supporting the motor since it will be held in my one mount you can take the tranny out. and then make sure you have someone to help you lift the tranny cause if you dont you will drop it on your head.

then make sure the clutch is alinged with the clutch alingment tool and put the throw out bearing on and have the person help you pick the tranny up from unde the car and slip the shaft back in and have him start the tranny bolts then start putting shit back together. and then after all that is done sit back and have a drink then take her for a drive ok great have a nice day

and im sure i left a few things out so dont playa hate me ok

Also the pin holding the shift linkage to tranny is a mother sometimes...you have to show it who is boss an old valve works well for driving it out along with a decent hammer. Also when prying out axles keep the tranny in neutral and spin the axle while you pry. BTW I dont think it has been mentioned but dont drop the tranny on your head.
