Im aware of the difference between a short and longblock but I guess my thoughts on a prepped block were different from yours.

$$$ is always an issue and thats why Im researching all this shit now. The Spoon engine packages just dont thrill me. So far from the info Ive gotten they are just B engines with Spoon equipment on em. Im not even sure if they do any engine prepping at all.

Larry is definately a consideration. Im thinking about just having the engine I buy shipped to Texas first and then let Larry work his magic on it. Only thing though is Im not sure what the turn around on Endynes work will be. Hell Larry has been preaching about that charger for like two years now. Guess good things come to those who wait right?

So JG isnt that great huh?

Those damn CRV motors are really intriguing me. I wasnt aware that Endyne had been messing with them. Rumor has it you can mate them with a Vtec head but all Ive heard is talk yet to see any evidence.

The CRV motors are awesome. Granted no one around here has done one yet but I have this feeling that someone is going to be doing one very soon as a matter of fact I know there will be on completed on this coast within a few months and possibly a turbod one as well. The vtec head mates up similar to that of an LS vtec although custom pistons are needed as the stock pistons dont have the valve clearances for VTEC. Destrokeing the B20 is the way to go. Hell you never know maybe Ill do one soon if I ever get money.

I dont think I have heard anybody doing the CRV swap yet. That would be origanal. Isnt it a 2.2 VTEC just like the Prelude??

Its a 2.0 B series block. Its non-vtec but can be modified to accept vtec heads similar to the Ls/Vtec that everyone is talking so much about. The other advantages are its already 2.0 or you can destroke it and get an awesome rod/stroke ratio and make awesome power.

Ya its kinda tempting. Its a nice torquey engine but lacks a good upper band. With a Vtec head though....man that thing will scream. Its also pretty cheap and easy to get since there isnt a huge demand on them currently. Also its a B-series engine so itll drop right into the civic chassis no problem.

Read that article a little while back on the hybrid site. It was very odd hearing a Honda engine described as having lots of torque.

Cheap and easy to find? Those words dont go with the B20. Try finding a B20Z without paying and arm and a dick and your doing good. The hybrid board has a lot of good info but they are just starting to attempt this on thier own. you are better off going to Endyn site and searching for B20. That will give you a little more info. If you are really serious I believe dr. charles www.atomicperformance.com has complete CRV swaps available or will soon. The price is set a little above 4k. In order to do it correctly it is recomended that you strengthen and/or destroke the bottom end. You will have increased displacement and a much happier higher reving LS/vtec that should last.

My mistake I was under the impression that they were a dime a dozen.

Still though Im a tad weary of a B20 with a Vtec head. Id like to hear more and definately SEE one before I decide. Chances are Ill just stick with the reliable and trusted B18C1 swap.

HAHAH Thanks but no thanks Althought he did do a very good job at building a bottom end that would die in a week it did give a nice reason for my parents to LOAN me 4k to get my ITR bottom end in the GSR so I cant complain That past is the past. Hopefully this time I will be much luckier.
