Default Auto's really that bad>?

been wondering to myself lately would things be different if i had a stick ,,, car was a gift and unfortunatly it was auto but its nice not having to shift every now and then but i do miss shifting.

so my question to you all today is are autos really all that bad for racing , i mean do they have any potential at all ? asked around a drag forum and most said they prefer autos over manual due to faster shifting.. Just thought i would get sum more opinions on TR..

Let me kno guys

In a honda they are "that bad". They dont hold up well under too much power and getting an automatic tranny "built" usually ends up costing more than its worth. A couple of people have done it right though, but personally i think its more realistic to start off with a manual platform.

there is a guy i met at the integra meet with a turbo integra on i think 12 psi with an auto tranny. before that he was running 100 shot with the auto tranny and its never given him a problem. now he is still boosted and runs the hell out of his car, many pulls at the strip and everything. he was waiting for it to blow so he can do a 5 spd swap but he said the damn thing will not break for some reaon. he is on here but i dont remember his name

it depends on the type of racing. for high end drag racing, an auto is consistent and can be programmed to shift. for auto-cross or roadracing, a manual is necessary because u control when to shift and what gear to stay at.

as far as mechanics go, an automatic tranny has more moving parts.

i wouldn't want an automatic honda if i was trying to be fast.. (i'll leave out the rest of the jokes i was going to use) but yeah, it can be done, but the worth and hassle is pointless imo

No. Goto a junkyard or find a manual accord being parted out, shouldnt be much more then 4-900 bucks depending on what kind of deal you get and if you do your own work
