Default B18b1 machining

i was reading in this months Honda Tuning and they're building a "power-per-displacement" b20. i noticed they mentioned about "tapping" the oil passages on the block for i guess more effiecent oil flow. now is this only necessary for more of an "extreme race" motor or will it actually squeeze that much more power out of my wee ol ls. im swapping it in stock first and getting everything mocked up first, but once im ready too attack it with my array of aftermarket parts, i want too get the most out of them, by machining what i can. one of my best friends owns a machine shop so i want too use that too my advantage. are there any other little tips and trick i should do too get the most out of it? please use example, links and whatever else you can too accomadate you point.
