The issue could be the timing belt off a tooth, the issue could be the ecu.

very true, my teg and was off a tooth and it was fucked up no matter warm or cold. this car drives perfect once it is warmed up.

i was hoping it would be something simple like a idle control valve

Yeah, I would go ahead and let Neal do his thing... Prolly wouldnt hurt to replace the IACV also... Sounds to me like that could be part of it... Mine did that when the IACV was bad....

thats what i was thinking also but neal says the skunk2 program runs very rich. i can smell the fuel when im trying to start the car. i just spoke to the guys who had the car before the guy i got it from and when he had the skunk2 program, the car started fine.

got the IACV off today and it was nasty. couldnt even see the screen it was covered in so much gunk. sprayed it down with some brake cleaner and the car started right up. it is still idleing a little low but no more jumpy idle. its a smooth idle, just low. maybe it needs to be cleaned a little more. Neal will be checking it over tomorrow and doing some work on it. also put a quick crome flash on it for me
