I guess it would really depend on where it was broke. is their any bearing races or anything where it broke or what is right their?

Depending on location it is perfectly fine to weld it.

if its done by a pro, yes

The bad thing about it is that is aluminum casing, which in will weaking it a tad bit while welding.

A old customer had a small crack on the diff housing case. I took it to a welding shop to fix it, got it back but diff. clearance was way off. So no biggie, I was able to get the correct shim for it from Honda.

Well, 1 month later, diff bearing goes bad. Figure, no biggie, just a wearable item. 2 month later, it does it again, so I knew something wasn't right and located a new case. 1 year, no problem.

Again, I felt it was the cause of the casein either warpin or something but I suggest just buying a new one instead. You never know unless you feel like re-doing if it happans again.

The problem is not much so a stregth issue, but a distortion issue. Most of the tranny castings are typically a 3000 series AL and not all that strong to begin with. The heat from the welding is a major concern with the location of where the case was welded back together.

Post of pics of the location/breakage and that will help us all.
