Default Ok this is the last straw!!!

Ok ive got this 89 civic dx hatch that i bought as a project car...

Heres the deal first i thought it was a blown headgasket but it ended up being the head. Now ive replaced the head with a head off a 95 Dx car starts right up but smokes like crazy!!! runs good tho??????? just at a higher then normal idle..

Why is it smoking now???? and when i rev it up there is some black watery shit coming out the exhaust??? any ideas?????

Im just so fed up with this car. Ive had the head off this car 3 times now!!

The car revs fine and no loss of power.

Just what can it be.

the only thing i can think it can be is that I may have messed up when putting the head gasket on????

Im so close to just blowing this car up!!!!!!!

I didnt think you could put it on upsidown .

Here is one thing im looking for a answer for. The dual point head had 2 circular tabs sticking out of the head twords the block. The 95 dx head only has one so maybe the gasket shifted. what is the best way to set the head gasket in place??

Looks like im going to be doing it again tommorow.

oh and how much Ft lbs of torque should the head bolts be???

He would know if he put it on upside down. Did you check the head surface and block surface for straightness?

Check the head and block for flatness, and also clean all the stock headgasket residue off... Get it totally clean, and then get a headgasket for a d16z6 (1992-1995 honda civic si, or ex), It is multi-layered steel and better than the organic stock headgasket. That is about all I can think of at this moment. If all surfaces are clean and torqued down properly it will seal excellent, I have done this numerous times to SOHC motors and had no problems at all.
