Default 06 civic radio

One of my co-workers owns a 06’ civic cx or lx I really don’t know. But she is having problems with her radio reception. She believes that getting her window tinted could have caused it. Dose anyone know of any problem with the internal antenna being block by tint or anything like that. Or if this is just a problem that all new civics have? Any advice would really be appreciated and repped thanks! -JoCo

No its not a common problem. What kind of tint did they use?
Have they added an aftermarket XM or cd changer?

yes tinting the rear window will effect the radio reception because the attenea is intgrated into the rear window. I believe the two top sections of the window is the radio attenea and the remander of it is the rear defroster. the xm i believe is the box that sits on the rear section of the roof. Now 9/10 it gets damaged or causes interference with the reception. Speaking from seeing plenty of customers cars come in with this problem.

If you want to yourself check the conectors on the rear interior pillars. You will have to remove the rear pillars. You can unplug it and see if the static disapates or maybe even goes away completely. Plug it back in and see if the static comes back. The rear window will most likely have to be replaced. Sorry, iam just surprised that the tinters didn't have knowlege about this.

Tinting can effect it depending on what type is used. It won't in all cases.
Actually the connector is at the top of the rear window. Also a LX don't come factory with Xm so if it was aftermarket it could be an issue.
