Default Starter, ignition, eletrical 94 egcoupe Help....

I replaced the starter because when you turned the key over, nothing happen. I ran a wire from the solenoid to a switch inside the car, and one from the battery to the inside of the car to that switch. I turn the ignition forward and push the button and it starts. We put a lamp on the hot wire on the solenoid on the starter and there is nothing. I was just wondering how I would go about fixing this problem. Shops are talking about $84.00 an hour just to diagnose the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

so in short you are by passing the wires in the ignition switch & wiring the solenoid to a switch & it works?
Check the fuses?
I would one check to see if it is in my ignition switch if not then check to see if something has been fucked with in the harness.
from what I gathered is that all u did was bypass the ignition switch & it works. so either the 1 switch isnt working 2 switch isnt getting proper power 3 fuse 4 wires fucked up somewhere.

I think i said the same thing 2 times...

Its your ignition switch, same thing happened to me. so basically what you are going to have to do is replace it heres a guide How to replace the ignition switch or troubleshoot (Honda, Acura)

I have some pics of mine when i bought a replacement one from a junk yard. As you can see in the last pic, the contacts get over loaded with electricity and over time begin to fry, have you experienced that while drving, you car shuts off or you spedo and tach drop and come back up, thats one sympton, also when you turn the key, do the a/c lights flash very quickly, may or may not, either way thats what you problem is, your going to have to remove the undercover, and dig into the the inside to remove the plug which i cut my self doing but hey it was either that or no work so...yup

There's a safety switch on the clutch pedal that prevents the starter from making a circuit.

the upper safety switch or even the little plastis accorn deals get brittle and break. The lower safety switch is for cruise control.

Just fixed that same thing today.

i have some problems like that on my 91 hatch. i try to start at times but it does not so i wiggle the female connector on the starter and it starts usually immidiately. i do have to push the clutch in to start. "not to raid this post" but there is something on the clutch pedal like what be on the back of the brake pedal that wears out and falls out? this is what could cause starting issues?
