changing water pump and timing belt
Looks litk its about that time for me, Im going to try to pull it all apart, hopefully put the water pump on and then let my neighbore do the timing belt since i have no clue how.. anyone have any tips or anything with getting it apart
have sure you have a good airgun or crank pulley bar to get the crank pulley bolt out. also have the motor at TDC when you take the old belt off, saves u a possible small headache when puting the new one on.
thanks, i have an airgun so that should be fine... anyone know of any write ups or anything on doing this job?
as for this post, do a search. ive posted timing belt/water pump Helms pics on here numerous times, you should be able to find em pretty easy.

im in the middle of this and the directions that link has tells how to get the alt and a/c belt off but i have a 3rd belt there, im guessing power stearing? how the hell do i get it off.. it appears there is a tentioner there, the belt goes from crank pully, tentioner(im guessing) and then towards the front of the car/bottom next to the header.. any help would be greatly appreciated
outermost belt goes to the PS pump, up high off the front of the valve cover.
-loosen the two bolts that hold the PS pump on, then lower it enough to get the belt off.
second one in is A/C, thats the lower front (by the header)
-loosen the bolt on the tensioner arm (just a little bit)
-loosen the tensioning bolt, and the tensioner should rotate down so u can pull the belt off.
third in is the alternator, back of the block.
-loosen the top bolt and you can rotate the alternator toward the block so u can remove the belt.
installation is the reverse of removal.

well i got all of that figured out, got the water pump changed. now putting the new timing belt on, one of the cam gears is moved from the up arrow pointing strait, it looks to be 1 tooth off from the other, when i try to move it back its like there is a shitload of pressure on it, i can move it but it goes right back to where it was... wtf do i do??
