Anyone know how or if it is possible to rewire the connector on top (in the picture below) to use the connector on the bottom?

 

distributor conversions are done all the time...not a big deal

 

You will need to color match all the wires. In order to do this you will need the engine harness side of the plugs for reference since the wire colors on the 9 wire plug won't match correctly (distributor side). Just match the wires and sodler them in. The eight wire top plug is short the blue tach signal wire and what you need to do is open the distributor up and there will be a missing connection on the igniter. Get a spade connector and run that wire out the distributor and to the solid darker blue wire on the 9 wire plug, it will be one of the two bottom wires with the larger spade.

 

Hope that made sense. It is been a couple of years since I've had to do it.
