Yeah it will drop right in its a d series, and for the rebuild if the block was bad like smokeing or the bearings are bad or you where burning oil stuff that the motor was bad to start with yeah rebuild the bottom end. Just look at this way all dseries are interchangable so goes for bseries as well. But if the block was good and the head is to just put them together nothing has to change. It will fall in fine no mount has to be changed and when you put the head on the block I would use the y8 head gasket with build. But overall if block is good dont do anything just put it together and you'll be fine.

Yeah I know it causes it to run lean but for know it was just something to get him running with what he had. But just giveing him ideas in what he could do.

10-4 completely understood, but with the money that we would spend on the rpm switch, he could use that to buy the wires and pins to do it right

Yeah I know, I'm not saying to get one just makeing sure his vtak is working. But really I think he should go obd1 and run the p28. But like you said he needs wires and pins for the mpfi conversion. But he's looking for help and ways and the z6 on the y8 head would be best insted of the 1.5 mini me. But overall if block is good and head is good put them together do dpfi to mpfi get the conversion harness for obd0 to obd1 wire it up and he will be running. But if he would like to stay obd0 he could use pr3 tune it up for single cam use and he'll be rolling. But its all up to him and how much money he is willing to spend.

I would think so, send it to get resurficed and clean up. Going HC is a good way for a dseries or you could run nitrous. But let us know how your build is going and if you need more help, where here to help you through. Any question just ask and with or best knowledge we could help you led to a good motor build and not have any problems with it.

Since you want to do a N/A build, machining the head/block surface would be good since it will bring up your compression a bit.
