Default ????Draining My Brakes????

I just bought a new brake caliper and I am going to put it on tomorrow. My question is when I had the old caliper off I was rolling my car down my d/w and accidently pushed the brake pedal while the caliper was off. I then used the e-brake to stop. So since I pressed the pedal while the caliper wasnt connected did I mess anything up/get air in the lines? Or do I just need to drain the fluid and put new stuff in. Is there a write up on this and whats good brake fluid to use? Any help will be greatly appreciated, put to good use, and repped.

Any time the brake system is opened up, it should be bled. In fact brakes should be bled EVERY 2 YEARS to prevent corrosion from building up and damaging expensive parts.
I doubt you messed anything up by pushing the brakes w/ the caliper off.
I use and recommend BG DOT 4 brake fluid. It has a very high dry/wet boiling point and I get it at a discount, but its stil pricey.
Ive also used "store brands" which also work fine.
The most important thing is to get all the air out of the system.

+1....i use MOTUL DOT 5.1..very high boiling point and still compatible with dot 3 and 4.......non silicone base ....but yes any time the braking system is opened, should be bled completely to remove any excess air that has gotten in the lines.

Do a good brake bleed and in the right order. If any air got in
you will get it. I also concur on the periodic cleaning out of the lines.

I have had good luck with Castrol brake fluid......from Pep boys.

If you don't get the desired results, let me know.-Bob
