D16y8 Stock W/ Turbo HELP ME NEED ADVICE!
Hey guys i have a stock 1998 civic ex with a stock d16y8 in it that runs awsome, the car is mint so i decided to keep it and boost the stock motor, has anyone ran boost on a stock y8, can you tell me what i need to do to make this work as a every day driver, right now i have a partial greddy single cam kit, tdo4h turbo on greddy manifold, with greddy downpipe and blow off valve, i have a tapped oil pan and a front mount intercooler, i know i need charge pipes and intercooler piping, do i have to run bigger injectors and map or can i run stock injectors and map, do i need fuel management or a chipped ecu or not, ive had my friends tell me i can just slap in on and go but i want advice from someone who knows this setup for sure! You can start by reading an article I wrote to help people with questions like your self: phearable.net
The article will answer 90% of your questions.
The direct answers are:
1. You will need to chip your obd1 ecu or buy a pre-chipped unit
2. You will need/want a walbro 255lph fuel pump
3. You will need 310-440cc injectors depending on your power goals (I would recommend 440cc injectors which will be good until 300 whp).
4. Your stock map sensor will work until 11.2 psi, if you want to run anything over 10 psi I usually recommend going with an aftermarket map sensor such as a motorolla 2.5 bar which supports up to 22 psi or a gm 3 bar map sensor which supports up to 30 psi.
