Default B20/Vtec Problem

Ok so the motor is in, and wen we try to start it, it starts, but idles really rough and stalls out if we dont feather the gas pedal. When you punch the pedal, the motor stalls out. Its a B20b with a b16a2 head in an 00 Si with obd2 connectors and wired for vtec thru the ecu. the ecu is a p72 OBDI which isnt tuned for the b20 yet, but idk if that would make a diff until i get it running. Any suggestions as to the problem. Its throwin Code 14 which is Idle Air control valve, but idk wat it would b. Thanks.

iacv is a big part of the problem. Fix that first, then go from there.

Sounds kinda like a TPS problem, but problems are kinda hard to diagnose over the internet.

Good luck.

check the timing....what water pump and what timing belt did you use? also unplug the iacv and see if it stalls out.

Yes, could DEFNIETLY be a timing issue, i just read that you assembled it yourself ( not saying you dont know what you are doing ).

hey, it happens to the best of us

also, check to see that the idle screw isnt shut on the TB, and that the FITV is clean and gunk free. both of which will mess with idles...

ok well it was the wrong sensor (iacv plugged to egr ) . steve (jdm.slut) did the timing and it seems right but i think imma have it towed to yonke's shop if nothing else. update is that the car now idles regularly, but there is smoke comin from what seems to be the oil pan for some reason and there is no oil goi nto the catch can. the other issue is that wen you hit the gas, the car still stalls out. Thanks again guys

its either getting too much or too little gas when the TPS reads open. (assuming the TPS and MAP are not switched, which might account for the prob)

check the FPR and injectors.
