yeah more belive the drain bolt. but i took off the fill to fill and the drain to drain. so what sealant or thread lock can i use? got some stuff at home called loctite and it is medium strength. did not use this previously.

Loctite is not a sealant. Try honda bond or grey silicon, but only after draining and cleaning the threads really good with brake clean.

Do you have the crush washer on it still?

i know, loctite is a thread lock. will try some of that honda bond. is that a dealer item? really silicon would work? crush washer? you mean the washer you get when you buy a honda oil filter to put on the drain plug? if so never recall seeing one. just to clear things up i mean i was draining the transmission fluid from my manual transmission not the oil from the oil pan.

There should have been a crush washer on that plug, you need to get another one and see if that works

actually, as i recall, and according to the honda parts catalog (items # 22 and 23) there are washers on both the fill and drain plugs.

the OEM bolt, with the washer, torqued to spec, should NOT LEAK at all. if you need to use gasket sealer, you either need a new washer, or your bolt is not tight enough.
