195 is more than fine for Florida weather. I would be at 192 - 195 cruising. 198 - 202 sitting. And 187 - 189 boosting. Depending upon a couple variables Honda's typically run 190F - 220F. Anything above 220F is too hot

but was that with stock 190 thermostat or the supposed "170"? maybe my brand new 170 isn't opening at 170, cuz no matter what the temp is outside or what i'm doing, the temps are rock steady at 190-195 ALWAYS.

ok, i just read something very cool(no pun intended). apparently, that u shaped hose that runs from the back of the thermostat housing to the intake manifold is called a bypass loop, which is unregulated by the thermosat, and allows coolant to flow and the motor to be warmed up before the t-stat opens. NOW-, when the coolant gets moving in some cases, they say if you are to make those ports smaller inside in diameter, that will keep large amts of hot un-cooled coolant from going around the cylider walls and right back to the pipe running to the pump without going through the radiator. and it will still allow the water to cycle while warming up when the t-stat is shut. tell me what you think. i talked to a guy from honda-tech about it.

the guy said he was using a ball valve to regulate how much went through to get a much lower constant temp for the track(180-185).

oh, and the 170 thermo starts to open at 174 and is fully open at 195 to prevent coolant from reaching above 215 which is considered to be the begining of overheating. wtf? might as well call it the stock thermostat since thats exactly what the honda manual calls for in stock replacement. go figure. so i guess i am dead on as for the water temp target. i hope it stays just the same when i slap the big ass T60-1 on there. WHOO HOO!
