Exclamation clutch/tranny f-d up??

when i deccelerate in gear im hearing a grinding sound coming from the front passenger side, im thinkin tranny or clutch. i changed my tranny fluid and that didnt seem to change anything, my dad said he thought it was a throw-out bearding, and someone else said bad wheel bearing but i dont think so cause it only does it when im slowing down. it works perfectly when im accelerating, no grinding, it shifts clean and everything. can anyone help me, i want to get this fixed asap cause i drive about 300 miles a wek on the highway so i dont want to get stranded. thanks

No the car runs exactally how it did before it started the grinding. It accelerates with no grinding and there is no grinding when the clutch is disengaged. Only when I have it in gear and im off the throttle enough to not maintain speed. if it is at constant speed or acelerating there is no grinding that i can hear.

im pretty sure, cause when it does it it is loud and i can feel it in the shifter, its like a tapping on the shitfer. ive driven slowly next to a wall so that the sound would bounch back and i couldnt hear it when i was accelerating.

I had the same Problem. The Whirring noise is your Throw-out bearing. Did you replace it before? If not It the bearings probably got loose instead of be packed together. And as for your shifter tapping. I stick two small gaskets at the end of the Second Linkage where it bolts up to the tranny by a bolt. It decreases the slack and room for the linkage to move. I haven't had a problem since. Let me know if it worked.

maybe your clutch kit is old and falling apart... or you have a loose motor mount... if a mount is loose your moter will shake and that will cause you to feel it in ur shifter

most likely your tranny, however i couldn't be certain without seeing it, try refilling with some gm syncromesh and wait two or three days and see if that works

I already changed the tranny to syncromesh, it didnt change anything unfortunately. my dad thought i was the throw-out bearing, but he doesnt really want to replace it, or rather help me replace it. how difficult is that, or replacing the clutch/tranny.
