Default My current build and some questions.

Alright here's my current build and setup:

CURRENTLY INSIDE CAR:
Stock USDM B16A2
AEM Cold air intake
P28 Ecu chipped by John Vega(Phearable.net)

CURRENT PROJECT:
B18C1 Bare Block
JDM B16A P30 Pistons
Brand new LS rods/rings
ARP bolts

MY QUESTIONS:
Was wondering if this setup will work if I use my stock B16 head and if a LS crankshaft and LS rods will work on the GSR block. Also I would appreciate any opinions to help me out. Thanks in advance.

i believe the ls crankshaft in the gsr block would give the gsr tru 1.8 stroke......I BELIEVE (im a SOHC fan)

Yes your setup will work. Many guys run the 89mm LS/B20 crank and rods in vtec (gsr) blocks with great results!
Setup sounds like a good starting point. The extra strength and lubrication of the gsr block is never a bad thing.
I would look into possibly a ported head before you finish building it.The block will be built so all that is left is your head. If your head is already P+P'd, everything else will be easy as it will be more of a "bolt on".
Of course to truly exploit the engines potential, you will need bigger than stock cams and the valvetrain that goes with it.
Good luck with your build!

LS 89mm crank yields 1834cc stock bore
GSR 87.2mm crank = 1797cc
FYI

Great. Thanks for the information guys. Right now I'm on a budget, so a port and polish isn't an option and I'm thinking of getting a port and polish done when I get a set of CTR cams and an ITR valvetrain. Again thanks, you guys rock.

Yes it will work. I have the same setup. You're making an LS VTEC basically without the fuss of running oil lines and whatnot.

Actually about the lubrication, he will have to remove the oil squirters for it to fit. This isn't really a problem, and actually will bring down the weight of rotating mass as there isn't oil building up on the slugs. Granted, it weighs only grams, but thats still extra weight.
