Default Idleing problem

alright..I got a 90 teg. I was driving it earlier, running fine, then I stop at a light and im idleing at 3k.. Thought maybe something was sticking so I put my foot underneath the gas pedal, push up and then the car will start idle surgeing from 1-2k..give it gas again then its back to 3k.. I dont know..any guess's what it could be? what I should check?

might not be the same as your problem cause mine didnt hold itself rev/hold it self thta high. But i had a vacuum leak caused by a rip in my intake manifold gasket *not saying yours is* and i had a surging idle and every now and then it would hold itself at 3k whether i ahd my foot on the gas or not. So in gear it would be driving itself lol. Guess what im saying is check for vaccum leaks.

I used this site Honda-Tech.com: Idle surging...Hunting idle....Lets fix this now.
as well as this one Bad Idle Troubleshooting

GL!

Thanks,

Mondo

I found the problem..some little mapping sensor or something by the manifold..Cost $350 at advance..so I guess I'll goto cophers and pull one for $2.00 =P..unless someone has one and could save me the hassle of going over there tomorrow.

Thanks for your help tho man

how did u come to the conclusion it was the map sensor? Just wondering. Id hate for you to buy a new one or used one when it wont solve the problem.

Thanks,

Took the vaccum line off of it and then the idle went down to 1k.. has a miss without it but isnt idleing at 3k like it was. so figured it would be that...

I have a different setup than you, but I backed off any screw that could keep the throttle open, sprayed generously with PB Blaster, worked the throttle several times and set the screws back as original.

Cleared it up, but other people have some good ideas, also.-Bob
