Dont if id trust that method u used SM6989. I say this because i unpluged my TPS during my Idle surging hunt and it idled perfect with it disconnected and that wasnt even a part of the problem. I would vouch for vacuum leak somewhere. If anything though just go pocket a map sensor from the junkyard just in case lol

Could always test it. Hook a voltimeter to it. One end on ground and the other on middle wire. It should be .5V closed. But it sounds more like a vacuum leak then anything.

question does it only do it when warm or on cold idle also?

It does it all the time..I cant find where there would be a leak though.. Anyone here care to help me out and take a look? lol I'd offer some cash. I'll try that with the sensor and such then post back.

it idles at 2k with no more surging? or is it still surging?

Have you checked to see if maybe your throttle body was too tight or perhaps something is keeping it stuck open? When i first got my rex my a6 would hold a 2k idle and it ended up being breathing tube from valve cover to intake that somehow got sandwiched between the throttle valve.

you tried lowering it via idle screw on TB?

LMK,

Thanks
