Default ecu

ok well i bought an 88 crx with a swap and i have a stock ecu for the crx but the swap was out of a 98 civic and it is supose to be v-tec but has a diffrent valve cover. but he said i need to get the right ecu to make the v-tec work properly would it fuck my car up if i didnt change the ecu for a little while or would the ecu even change the performane a whole lot.

you just wont have vtec. it will run alright for a little while shouldnt hurt anythign i did it for a while no problems, but to get it to run right you should convert to obd1 and get a p28 ecu. you could use a switch or a vtec controler but you wouldnt have a suffecient amount of fuel and would bog the car down in vtec.
