I recently got a 96 gsr that is supposed to have quite a bit of mods on it. I plan to go get it tuned pretty soon but want to be sure they parts are there that are supposed to be. to do so i plan to pull the head and check out as much as i can. the things i really dont know what to look for to see if there what there supposed to be are:

Golden Eagle Iron Sleeved GSR Block
40 over je piston
head is races ported and polished
Eagle Rods
ARP Rod Bolts
ARP Head Studs
skunk 2 stage 2 Cams
Skunk2 Adjustable Cam Gears
skunk 2 valve springs
skunk 2 Titanium Retainers
Portflow Valve Seals

could anyone give me a way to find out?????

 

Pull off the pan you can tell if its sleeved , got rods , or pistons etc ..

ARP bolts are stock on Eagle rods


The Skunk2 cams have an M in the casting on the end as far as I remeber and the retainers are a little harder tot ell etc

also, the compression is supposed to be at 12-1, how do i check that? a compression test?

 

That would be the easiest way ...

12:1 Compression should yield compression numbers over 260-275psi

 

skunk valves have an S2 stamped in the middle of each.

skunk retainers nor springs have identifying marks.

arp head studs have an allen key in the middle for installation.

yeah well everyone who wanted to help me out so much building a honda dissapeard (sp?) when i got one, so unless you know someone that will on there own time come over and look for me, its not an option. sorry i do not want to pay someone some rediculous price to look, when i can take pics of everything and post it here and most likely get what i need.
