Default ls-vtec or ls turbo??

i need some help trying to decide wat would be better ls-vtec or ls turbo. the motor is an obd0 ls,81.25mm bore and itr pistons with arp rod bolts. if i go lsvtec should i rewire the car to obd1 or just get a vtec controller? which one would have more bang for my buck? thanks

ls vtec < ls turbo.... obviously a turbo would put out way higher numbers than only a vtec, but you may wanna do both, ls/vtec turbo setups are very highly rated and are the way to go. I myself am building up an ls turbo setup but with the amount of $$ i am putting into the setup, vtec wont make hardly any difference at all. (check my trgarage b18 integra)... but either way if you go ls vtec or ls turbo youshould change the ecu to obd1 because you would have to get your ecu chipped and tuned, and it would be better done with an obd1 almost anyone who tunes would tell you to get an obd1 ecu. If i were you, i would start off with the ls/vtec, get the obd1 ecu... then save up for a little while after and buy a turbo kit. that would be your best bet. but to answer your last question... bang for buck... you would spend a bit more on a turbo kit than a vtec head, but will have way more hp than if you only went vtec you cant even compare the two. like i said before and i am sure everyone else on here will agree... both vtec and turbo would be your best bet in the end

well if your gonna stay ls turbo id change the pistons to lower compression, and if your going lsvtec your fine but will make less power, and no matter what you say... a vtec head flows a million times better than a non vtec.....

would having the itr pistons really hamper the turbo or would the copression be to much strain on the rings?

itr pistons' compression ratio is too high, itr pistons are more for the naturally aspirated cars, you would need to run at least 9 0 1 compression pistons for a turbo, but you can still run a vtec with a low compression motor, but you wouldnt want to run the vtec with the low compression pistons and not run a turbo... my question is... how much money are you planning on spending throughout this WHOLE setup... from beginning to end... if you do it piece by piece, i would get your vtec head and ecu to go with it, then get your 9 0 1 pistons, then by your turbo... you are lookin to spend at least 350 for pistons, at least 1000+ for a little t3/t4 setup, and what ever your cost is on that vtec head with ecu. its all about how much hp you want and how much money you got.

i plan on spending between 1500 and 2500 possibly a little more. right now i have an obd0 and it will be changed to obd1 but if i buy the conversion harness i know i will need a 4 wire o2, but how would i hook up the vtec? or should i just get a obd1 engine harness and ecu?
