Default So im building a block for a new ls/vtec

OK im picking up an ls block with a fresh hone micropolished crANK AND ACL race bearings... havent found out what all bearing but i will hopefully.. i think they are mai bearings... what my question is...what all bearings should i replace? WHat else is there? i know big end bearings? i know the term but dont know where they go its a bare block and im buying aftermarket rods and pistons so i dont need rod bearings right? i pretty much want to relace everything.... this is a boosted application.... dont really want to spend a g for sleeving so i guess ill have to settle for a block gaurd

OEM B16 Bearings FTW ..

OEM ITR Waterpump
OEM ITR Oil Pump
OEM Bearings
Endyn Blockgaurd

Also make sure you get the block professionally assembled by someone who knows what they are doing ...

Stay away from the race bearings on a street motor, the clearances are usually a little too loose.

+1
and a blockguard is far from necessary. if you buy the ACL bearing kit it will come with all the main and rod bearings along with thrust washers. even though youre using aftermarket rods you still need to use bearings, if you dont know that have someone help you build it for your own sake

From your questions, it's clear you don't have experience in engine building. Avoid a disaster. Get some help. If, however, you are in the early stages of gathering information to attempt your first build, keep gathering, ask lots of questions, crack the service manual, read and reread....

wow......: o( if i was you make sure you find all the info you can an have soemone help you,it is not as easy as just doing it and throwing it all together..some the info said is good some i guess just did not read...DONT use a BLOCK GUARD why..cause you said the block has just been honed if you instal a blockguard now you may mess up the cyl's and have to have it rebored..bearings yes replace them all now then your safe for long time to come dont forget main seals..i myself like the ls water pump just do to timeing the motor is easy with a ls but do use a vtec oil pump!and make sure when you assemble you piston/rod combo you do it right
