Default ls vtec questions

Hey whats up i know people have probly asked this but which head is better for this application a gsr head or a b16a head also which pistons would be best to use to replace my stock pistons im looking for something to up the compression and relativily cheap would b18c do the job. this is all going on to a 91 ls block and I am planning on going na and maybe nos in the future. thank you

First off it's LS/VTEC ..


If I was to build an allmotor setup for cheap I would do as follows :

USDM ITR Pistons or PR3 B16 for OEM
LS Rods w/ARP Bolts
GSR/B16 head(If GSR get a Skunk2 IM)
JDM ITR Cams
Skunk2 Pro Series Cam Gears
JDM ITR Header or SMSP if you can afford it


Should be near 190-200WHP tuned properly

i have done ls/vtecs with b16 heads and gsr's and have gotten great results with both. your success will dwell in the pistons and cams you choose. a good port and polish doesnt hurt either.

yea either head is good...my setup has the itr pistons and buddy club spec III cams in a b16 head and its around 215 whp
