Default d16 piston rods in a d15 block

can these fit in a d15 block with modification? i might have a chance to get a set of eagle rods and cp pistons cheap and was wondering if they will fit in a d15b2 block if it was bored out or honed or something. also will they fit on a d15 crank?

thanx josh

the pistons will work perfectly but the rods will not. you would need to bake the block higher if you wanted to use em....aka not worth the time or money. just get the right rids or the right block.

Yea, the pistons will work if the cylinder is honed out to the right MM.

Both motors share the same bore

The D16 picks up its 1/10 a liter by having a longer stroke

No the D15 has a deck height of 207.45 and all the D16's come in at 212, What we are aiming for (gsxr0407) is running a D16 head, he has a D15 bottom and got a killer deal on aftermarket D16 rods and pistons(brand new),So having a D16 head and using a D16 crank with put him in the area of running a little higher compression with a OEM HG with the shorter deck height, but that will be cured with a thicker HG also increasing the deck height of the block. ALL This can be avoided by getting a D16 block, but hey, were would we honda boys(and girls) be if we left the right parts on the right motors only time will tell..

but it would be more reliable and easier with a d16 block and wouldnt require mods. and d16 blocks are cheap...prolly cheaper than an extra headgasket.

LOL true but again If you have it, work with it(in most cases) as for modifications there is little to none, The only concern I have with this setup will be piston clearence, but its not my build, I am just trying to help someone out and doing what I can to set him straight. I have done very few D-series builds(mabye 6-9) but I am sure as the the advice I got from another avid builder that the combo will work with little to no headaches.. Oh well.
