I have my 92 si hatch, and i used it this past thursday, and went to turn it on saturday morning... and nothing. all i get is the electric running thru it.

so i got the battery tested and it was fine, then sunday i pulled out the starter tested, and it was fine. took it home, neighbor got it all apart and put it back together. got it re-tested and it was still fine.

then today (monday), i pulled the alternator out and got it tested, and it was fine.

so i bought a new distributor cap and rotor and will try that tomorrow.

any ideas on what the problem is? the engine wont even try and turn over.
please help me out.

 

check for a loose ground

 

Is it manual or auto? If manual, can you push start it?

 

it is manual, and i was going to try and pop the clutch while someone was pushin it either today or tomorrow

 

check fuses, does the car make ANY sounds when you tunr the ket to start it?? any clicking? Chech the enigine bay fuses box and under the dash fuse box. Let us know what you find..

 

if you turn the key to the on position can you hear your fuel pump prime?

 

Im going with the Main Relay. do you have an alarm with a kill switch. i had an old alarm on my prelude that wasnt working when i bought the car, mysteriously one day my car had the same symptoms as yours, tried everything without spending any money, then a friend told me about his experience, needless to say i yanked the alarm wiring and voila, it started.

maybe even the clutch switch??? i have heard those give the same symptoms you are having

 

hey yah thats a great idea the clutch switch i bought a car off of here and the girl was jumping the starter with a giant screwdriver, turns out one of the wires to the harness of the clutch switch was yanked out... so i just yanked out the other connected them together and now i just make sure my car is in nuetral when i start and im good to go, no need to push the clutch cause the car already thinks its engaged

 

he's got an alarm with keyless entry....the keyless entry works but i think the alarm hasn't worked since he bought it...not sure tho....the kid he bought the hatch from liked to mess around with stuff...but...oh well....g/l kyle....

 

If its a stock fuel pump, its going to be hard to hear it!!!

You can try and check the starter wire? I dunno... Let us know if its able to be push started!!! If so it will narrow a few things down...
