Default block painting question

i am trying to get an idea of what is the best way to paint a block.Anyone ever just powder coat a whole block or is that even something that can be done?? I dont like how cheap engine spray paint looks and would like to do something realy nice with the ITR motor.Anyone ever use car paint on one?(like some croma base) If so how did the paint hold up? Ever start turning colors?just wondering ..lmk..thanks guys...

Honestly, I think you might have heat dissipation issues. The paint would probably retain heat and you'll suffer hp loss ... nothing too noticeable, but will bring down longevity of other engine components.

Ehh, i dont think it would retain to much heat... plenty of people paint there blocks. Just use a silver-like engine paint that you can buy from advance auto parts, just prep, prep, prep. Or you can go to Gearhead in dunedin and buy some from there.

Well i have the block fresh from the machine shop so its clean and ready for what ever.I want to get this put together like tomarrow but i dont want to not rush it and get the block looking nice..I am trying to stay away from the silver spray paint..I did my ls/vtec that way and i dont like it.I have even thought about polishing it and using some clear coat but that woould take forever.I thought you could powder coat a motor..I just wonder how it looks in the long run..I guess i will pm jobobclark and see what he says..He has done great jobs with my valve covers over the years..

ya,i dont think its that bad on prices but i wonder how they look in the long run later on down the road..valve covers get hot as hell and they never turn so you would think it would be ok..
