That is incorrect, vtec engagement on a stock p28 is 5500 rpms on most rom versions I have seen.

This is incorrect also :-/

You would get a better response if you supplied us with a complete spec sheet on your vehicle's setup.

A lot of people have the misconception that the earlier vtec engages, the more power you will have. This theory exists because people hear vtec engage & think they are making more power. The truth is vtec should be engaged at the best possible location for the power band so that the power transition between lowcam & high cam is almost un-noticed.

because then it wont make as much power up top. And you will get that nasty vtec drop when it goes into vtec.

It depends on the car , when vtec should engage. Every motor is different.

Why would you get a nasty drop? It should give you a smooth transition.

Normally I would agree with you but if my info is correct then the website in your sig is incorrect.

most people think the quicker they get into vtec the more faster they will go. wrong! you should have your car tuned to see where vtec most smoothly transitions from low cam to hi cam. if your car is stock the or has minor bolt ons the stock engagement point should be fine. as stated if vtec comes in too early you will hear it engage but wii have a terrible power drop then will go back up in power. so if stock or with minor bolt ons the factory setting will be fine. if heavily modded have it dyno tuned. stock pr3 ecu has vtec swicth over point at 4800 rpms (obd0 ecu).

The page is incorrect, I didn't write the chart I simply put it up for ecu code reference. I will fix the mis-print.

Thanks,
