I modified a Vortech to fit in my b16 crx and i have some things to find and make right before i obtain the full power of it. The placement of an aftercooler (vortech or other) is just one item on my list and missing boost is another but all is to be expected because we modified to make it work.
The lag isn't very long at all with the Vortech and it pulls hard.
The installation on your car, assuming it is a coupe, would be normal as compared to mine.
With gas prices being so high, I am not really complaining about my gas mileage either.
I did go with a Zdyne (obd0), a Walboro 255 fuel pump, and 450 cc DSM injectors to avoid using thier fuel management system.
Jaime Rabago at Vortech is very cool for tech support. Dave in sales is good as well.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

really, your set up made me start thinking 
. I like the vortec, but its not woth the money of me taking off the turbo kit, and then buying that... there really isnt enough differance to make it worth the money and work. my car already has a pretty nice turbo/motor set up (imo) so ill just leave it for a while, maybe vortec my next set up

Finally now I have it. I could be mistaken but I think I may be the only vortech CRX in FL.

didn't read all the responses but since I know your car I'll give my input. At the boost levels you are running now on the sc61 you are nowhere near its efficiency range and you have a decent amount of lag. Switching to a smaller turbo like an SC50 or SC34 would be a good idea for you. An SC50 will spool a good bit quicker and stiull be able to make 400-450whp and it won't require any other changes to your setup other than a re-tune.
