Question Slick size question...

Alright, I have a question for all of you fast Honda doods... Hopefully I can get the insight of some more people since I basically already have a general idea of what would work well..

So, a buddy of mine is in the market to buy some slicks, but hes not sure what size would be the most suitable for his application...

The car is currently on stock suspension (with the exception of coilovers in the front to accomodate the tires). Car has a wheelbase of 103 inches. And it makes around 430-450whp, and about 400 torque... Through first and second gear however, the car only makes about 350whp, and 320-330 torque... Transmission is a GSR transmission, with LS final, and he revs to about 8k rpm... I personally think the M&H 25x8.7/13 mounted on some 13x8" wheels would hook well, and give a little more gearing advantage given the powerband he has to work with... But I would like the input of some others, just to be sure the tires are properly matched to the application...

I have already contacted John at M&H tires to get his opinion, but I am still awaiting his response...

Thats the issue now... Height vs. width...

Taller, skinnier slick will hook well, and give gearing advantage for the top end (no 5th gear shift)

Where a shorter, and wider slick should hook just as well, and give the gearing advantage of faster acceleration, but a little less on the top end, possibly making it neccessary to shift into fifth...

Its a toss up

Chris your giving them stock valvesprings a workout ..

Be careful ..

I would go with 24.5X9.5 as well ... or 23.5X8.7 If your trying to run in SFWD etc

I Know of some M/T ET DRAG 24.5X8.5X15 FS with 6 passes on them for 225

not to be off topic but do more roll out (higher number) mean more slick life or just more rubber used to make the slicks. ex. 70.5 roll out opposed to 75 roll out. thanks

I have said it a million times to you. M&H 25x8.7/13. This recommendation came from John at M&H himself. I know he is an old man but he knows a thing or two about slick sizing. I have to see the datalog of these 8,000RPM pulls
