log style manifold opposed to..
tube style , turbonetics log style vs custom one made by gato here at cft. turbo location nor ac or p/s clearance is an issue. just want to know are there any other advantages to the tube style? form what ive been told, it helps to spool quicker but not very noticeable. price not an issue, just want stricktly a performance explination if possible. thanks in advance.

people looking for high end, high RPM, top end performance will more than likely choose an equal or as close to equal length manifold as possible, reaon is due to the availability to use a collector, or merge collector. this helps by effectively utilizing each cylinder pulse in a good manner and making them meet in the same place in the same way everytime. some of the cheaper EL manifolds use crappy collectors, or poor designs so not the same effects are seen accross the board. MORE importantly, your car will spool a tad slower with your standard EL mani, but will make up for it on top end. BUT your car should be prepared for it. kits like FULL RACE are designed to be used with certain turbos, downpipes, intercoolers, and piping sizes. take a factor fom the equation and you may end up with different results.
now a shorty, log, cast manifold will give you great spool up times, they are cost effective, and dont seem to crack as often. but you will run into turbine flow choke due to thier poor design, use of materials, inner finishes and such.

here's a good analogy just in case you need a little more clarification:
When VTEC Engages, the exhaust gases are increased by a substantial amount by the intake cam moving more intake charge in...The Exhaust gets backed up with the Log Manifold as opposed to the "amplification" of the pulses with the tubular manifold...You see, the Log manifold will actually slow down the turbine wheel speed at, according to the graph, 4800rpm...The Tubular manifold will do the exact opposite and speed up the turbine wheel at 4800rpm...Thats why you see the jump in power...Its as if you kicked in the afterburner when VTEC comes on and then channel the exhaust "charge" directly at the turbine inlet instead of jamming it in the restricted "doorway" that the log manifold uses...
Think of it like this, In High School, when class is out, the first people out of class can get through the hallway to their lockers in short time...Well, when the whole school is out and trying to get to their locker, it takes them more time because of the congestion...This is what happens with the Log Manifold...
If there was a route that divided the number of students equally and directly to their locker, everyone will get there in short time and no congestion will occur...And, lets say these students were running...The speed that they will be running at will increase as they have more time to pick up momentum...Exhaust flow uses this "momentum" also called Scavenging with the use of Equal Length Manifolds...

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fucking temperamental.
I'll give my input. Equal length in the runners does not mean that much. If you look at the "equal length" ram horns closely they really are no where near equal length. 1 and 4 are close and 2 and 3 are close but they are not all equal. What makes the power is having a low angle merge collector and having the pipes close to equal length (within 6 inches of each other) which ram horns and most other "equal length" manifolds are. Calling a manifold equal length is mostly a marketing ploy.
Log manifolds spool well because they have low runner volume when compared to lets say a ram horn. The log will spool better but the ram horn will pull ahead due to having the merge collector and close to equal runners. The ideal manfiold would have the lowest runner volume possible, nice merge collector and be within 4" in tube length to each other.
For a street car I'd recommend a nice cast manifold like the inline pro or Blox. They offer low runner volume and have a semi collector that aims the runners at the turbine inlet where a log mani just flows 1 and 2 into each other and flows 3 and 4 into each other and then has the flow collide in the middle and rely on a pressure differential to direct it into the turbine. The inline pro and blox mani's also have a nice central wastegate port that will prevent boost creep.
