Default why does it need a brake booster?

Why does a lightweight car like a Honda "need" a brake booster?

If a person alters the length of the brake rod to compensate
for a missing booster, wouldn't this increase the "feel"/sensitivity
of the pedal?

What do you think?-Bob

the booster doesn't deal with the weight of the car as much as it deals with your foot having to push hydrolic fluid through the lines. The calipers ( 1,2,4 piston), rotor size, brake pad size, are weight/ power related. a heavier car would need bigger of these, as would the light car with a few 100 extra hp. the booster simply transfers the little pedal effort you give into a stronger force to push the hydrolic fluid through the lines, try disconnecting the vacume line from your booster and see how the brakes feel.

simply, it makes it less effort for a driver to stop, not more pressure for the brakes.

+1 i dont think you wanna have a high hp, car light or heavy, with manual brakes and the adjustment rod is for pedal travel

Holy shit, my booster had a vac. leak in it, and it was a bitch to stop. And this was in my old crx. Sometimes when I was tired I had to use the E-brake also........trust me, dont do it.

itd be like tieing a small rope to an elephants ass and trying to stop him from running. It simple changes your foot power exponantioally to increase the hydrolic pressure in the lines. less effort and increased power. Theres no way you could create the force needed to stop the car with no effort, your legs would be numb from going one block.
