That's exactly the problem.

You've recently asked to be considered for a Mod position in multiple forums. But, the first we see of you after getting your request is in here acting like this. I'm sorry but whining and bitching on the board because you aren't happy about a decision isn't the way to handle things on the site, and isn't going to gain you any favor when we look for more staffing.

Hopefully all this will help you all realize more of what we look at when choosing people. We aren't looking for people to start drama or perpetuate it. We want people that can be fair and objective. Hopefully we choose correctly, only time will tell.

 

I've got no problem with people speaking their mind. But, there is a time and a place to do it. If you have a problem with the decisions of the Admin Staff then take it up with us directly. We've said time and time again that we do not want posts of this nature made on the board, handle it another way (email, PM, IM, etc).

 

one point I will add... being a moderator is NOT a status symbol.. it doesnt come with perks.. and it totally changes how you interact on the forum. it becomes alot less fun, your not reading the forum for enjoyment now, your reading it with the intent to promote it, increase traffic too it, diffuse drama and generally keep it running well. Almost ALL of our mods will tell you generally TR becomes a bit less fun when your amod because now you cant join in some of the "fun" that goes on, and sometimes where you might have joined in a thread, you need to steer it in a new direction,lock it or send PM's to people asking them to chill out.

Being amoderator is NOT a status symbol.its being our eyes and ears and mostly playing traffic cop.. its ALOT of work .. thats why we choose certain kinds of people .. if your the kind of p[erson prone to joining in the drama .. then you wouldnt make a good mod because it goes against your natural instinct as a user, and change is hard on people.

Chill out guys .. enjoy your cars.. enjoy the HA forum.. worry less aboutthemods and more about promoting your forum. Our biggest asset isnt our mods, who dont need excellent car knowledge..its our senior users, our tech leaders.. the guys with the fast cool cars everyone wants to be like. And typicallymaking them a mod takes away from their effectiveness as a tech leader.
