dohc= better flowing head/ more aftermarket support /and more power to start with.

sohc= cheap due to already being in car.

Do you care to explain how it is a better flowing head? Also, im not talking about having more parts for it. Im basically referring to how it makes more power if it has the same amount of valves...

sohc are cheap as hell and easy to boost.

dohc are great for NA, but boost well too(just more expensive)

a few other things like for example the ability to have or already have a crank girdle like on the b18c1.

also more torque from simple displacement and stroke

if going turbo, the lack of head lifting issues as is with sohc's.

the B series heads have a better port design and flow more air in stock form than most worked (ported w/ performance valve job) D series heads. the other plus is the dual cams allow for more fine tuning of the power band.

Thanks man lol, so therefore, if there DOHC didnt have a better flowing head design, then a SOHC would be as good as DOHC, if the amount and size of valves were the same?

More Horsepower, Torque and just a better motor cause it aint stock ...valves arent everything man. Never mind now good job for understanding (not being sarcastic)

i guess . the B series motors were more performance minded in design. the intake is better ,bigger t/body ,and higher compression . the d series is more gas friendly w/ less race inspired design.
