LS/VTEC vs.B16a

All in all the LS/VTEC is not the greatest motor to just throw togeather and expect big HP numbers, all it is, is a Poor mans type-R, without the reving range, But throw a turbo or nitrous on it and it becomes something totally diffrent, This is comming from a person who just sold a 425HP LS/VTEC 11:9:1 comp Nitrous feed motor to someone in GA. He loves the motor... It all boils down to what the car is needed for and what the future holds for it, Boost?? NA??? Nitrous?? Plan ahead.. Good luck..
i hate to tell ya but the ls bottom end can rev just as high as any b-series as long as the oil pump can support it. the ls motor stock from honda doesnt rev high because the head cant support high revs.... ive seen lsvtecs rev to 10.5.... and if you want to be ridiculed even more ask 200nawhp.... hes making like 230 n/a with a B20 block which if you know has the same stroke as an ls but only diff is the bore... i want to see this lsvtec you built and i want videos and actual testimonial, cuz from what it seems you dont know what your talking about that well...

PM mtber on this board and he will agree that if built right the ls/vtec it is a great motor for daily driving or as a weekend warrior. Just remember to get it tuned and use the right parts.

yeah im gonna go with LS/VTEC, going to a b16 im loosing alot of torque, so any suggestions with what setup, im thinking to use the b16 pistons, and i'll get the ls/vtec conv. kit, to build it up properly how much do you think it will run me, im not worried bout spending the money. im just think if i do the b16 im gonna be dissapointed with the torque loss
def use b16 pistons for nice comp. if you havent purchased a head yet I'd go with a gsr just because of the extra .2 points in compression and nobody can really prove which head flows better (b16 vs gsr) it's all opinion. type r oil pump, water pump and ARP ROD BOLTS!

honestly.. alot of trq on a FWD isnt always a good thing.. not unless your car is set up for it. Youre gonna need good tires, traction bar, struts, ect. to put that trq to the ground.

You guys totally missread my post, I said that IF you build it right than its a awsome motor, but if you just plan on slaping it together then its not going to be able to rev high or last long, It also doesn't help that the B18B/A's dont have oil squirters below the pistons to help cool the wrist pins and piston bottoms. I myself love the LS/VTEC motor, thats why I built one, I only sold it due to medical bills and a new little girl..
As long as you replace the rod bolts and get a VTEC oil pump and spec it all out RIGHT the motor will be cool, BUT again, I will still point out that the Rod/stroke ratio is not the best it can be for high revs.. Sorry for the mix up guys, mabye I worded it wrong in my last post..
