If I might make a suggestion...
First of off, you have to ask yourself what you want to do with this setup. If you think you're going to stay all motor. Go with an A6 motor, and a Z6/Y8 head.
If you definately know that you want boost, which is what I recommend. I would suggest going with a Y8. They are proven to love boost. They make great power/psi, and the head stock is great out of the box, with no modifications.
The A6/VTEC will do very great all motor, about 140whp with no major mods. You can also spray this motor, and get 200whp pretty easy. With tuning.
The Y8 will make 200-250 out of the box with injectors, a pump, and a happy ECU.

IMO, you'd be the happiest with a d15b. It will require the least amount of work and will retain a reliability factor superior to that of a frankenstein. Everything after that is just that, but you'd be good to go from the swap alone for a while I would imagine (just getting used to the stepped up traction). Now you can add spray, or a turbo or go all motor. Just make sure you buy some rods first.
This is just my opinion, but I'd be happier with 200hp meeting the ground good than 250hp and a one wheel peel.

Hey, at least you're staying true to the EK family
That was gay..
Anyways, i would get a y8, build it for low compression, then slap on a turbo.
Personally, i went b series cause in the future i expect to see power numbers in the 300+ range..
Just like cronic said, its all about what you want.

y5,y8,y7 all have the same bottom end.
